Our School

Founded in 1955, Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School provides a nurturing Catholic education for children aged 4 to 11. Located in the north‑west of Bristol, we proudly serve our local parish community, as well as families from St Anthony’s in Henbury and the Sacred Heart in Westbury‑on‑Trym.

The school is a Catholic Voluntary Aided Primary School under the trusteeship of the Diocese of Clifton and is located immediately adjacent to the parish church of Our Lady of the Rosary. Our parish priest, Fr Francis, is a regular and much‑valued presence in school, celebrating Mass and supporting the spiritual life of our community.

We benefit from spacious and attractive surroundings, including large playgrounds, numerous play equipment and a fantastic tree‑lined playing field. The school has a Planned Admission Level of 210 pupils, organised into seven classes: three Infant and four Junior. In addition, we have a well‑resourced library, a dedicated ICT Suite, a large and well‑equipped hall, and a separate dining room.

Children begin full‑time education in the Reception class in the September before their fifth birthday. The majority of pupils transfer at the age of 11 to St Bede’s Catholic College, located just a few minutes away. Sixth‑form Catholic education is available at either St Bede’s Catholic College or St Brendan’s College in Brislington.

School uniform is worn, and we expect the highest standards of behaviour and learning from our pupils. We believe these standards are achieved through strong, positive relationships: between home and school, staff and pupils, and all those who influence the lives of our children.

In September 2023, the school received a GOOD judgment following an Ofsted inspection.

In April 2026, we were judged OUTSTANDING in our Section 48 inspection, recognising the strength of our Catholic life and mission.
